Portrait of Empress Maria Theresa in widow's costume, Martin van Meytens

So-called portrait of maria theresa of austria (1717-1780), but is probably a depiction of her mother elisabeth christine of brunswick-wolfenbüttel (1691-1750) identification proposed by user ecummenic (talk) based on the comparison with some portraits of empress elisabeth christine (see images below) and the lack of physical resemblance of the sitter of this portrait to other representations of maria theresa. Object Type: painting. Date: 18th century. Dimensions: height: 110 cm (43.3 in); width: 91 cm (35.8 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Unidentified location.
