description:
a bird of prey attacks a tiger on this openwork belt plaque which was part of a mirrored pair. The almond-shaped eyes identify the raptor as a griffin and not an eagle. The two animals are represented in profile but the wings of the griffin and all the claws of the tiger are represented frontally. The reverse is slightly concave. Acquisition method: manual donation
