The ship was built by samuel owen of stockholm in 1841 as the samuel owen. Changed hands a number of times until 1844, when she was sold to owners in norrköping and renamed as the l'aigle. In 1849 sold to malmö ångbåts a/b and named the öresund. In 1850 bought by the danish state and renamed to øresund. In 1853 sold to h. P. Prior of copenhagen.
