In the foreground, standing on top of a partially overturned ammunition wagon behind a broken fence, an infantryman stands with one foot on the open ammunition chest, his other foot on one wheel, and stretches out one arm, fist clenched in anger, as he holds in his other hand a lit stick of dynamite; the wagon horse is dead, and there are dead soldiers just visible in the foreground to right, while in the distance in the bleak landscape, a few other soldiers in action. 1818 lithograph.
