On june 10, 1860 king charles xv paid a brief visit to denmark aboard the steamship helsingborg. He took the short trip across the sound to elsinore and visited the fortress of kronborg. The visit was described in the danish weekly illustreret tidende on june 17, 1860, page 314. [1]. The steamship helsingborg was built in gothenburg at göteborgs mekaniska verkstad in 1856 (yard no. 109) to serve on the sound. In 1874 the danish company dfds took over the route and also the helsingborg. She was sold in 1884 and converted to a barge, serving in stockholm. Deleted from the swedish registry in 1923.
