Marie rosalie bertaud created free interpretations of claude-joseph vernet's paintings, often rearranging figures and changing the scale of figures and features of the background. This print combines elements from vernet's "shipwreck in stormy seas [tempête]" (1773) and "the shipwreck" (1772). Date: c. 1755–85.
