The copy is trimmed to the 2nd rule, top and left, to the 1st rule, to the right, and under the title, at the bottom. The letter is partly missing. Another copy n° 663 marks, inscriptions, hallmarks: letter - signed under the square line, on the left: "deveria delt. ", and on the right: "litho de c motte. "; in the lower margin, in the center: "la bonne mere / the good mother"; below: "in paris, rue st honoré n°290 / pub in 1830 by c. Motte, london 23 leicester square". Inventory number - on the back of the print at the bottom right in graphite pencil: "inv-588" museum mark - museum stamp in ink, at the bottom right corner of the frame (lugt 1270a) iconographic description: madame victor hugo, arms crossed, watching a child sleeping on her lap historical commentary: the truncated letter of this copy does not allow us to know whether it is the version printed by lemercier and announced by the "bibliographie de la france", on july 16, 1831, under the "no. 609 -- the steering wheel. -- the good mother.
