mark - pine needle shaped mark engraved on the bottom of the foot. Iconographic description:
the foot or base of utensils of this type is reserved in bisque and reveals a dark red shard often spotted with black. The base of the pots is generally smooth; however, that of this pot has been turned to form a spiral furrow. A technique attested by excavations carried out on the sites of the yatsushiro kilns (mm). Peony motifs finely drawn in white, with a band of pearls above. Historical commentary:
