The nordby of fanø was built at nordby in 1888 by s. Abrahamsen for the shipping company galeasen nordby's rhederi a/s. The term "galease" was used for a small two-masted sailing ship, closely resembling a schooner. The shipping company was led by morten jensen mortensen of nordby, who was also the ship's master. In 1904 she was sold to unknown owners, but in 1921 she reappeared as the mira, owned by h. J. Ohlsen of alnor and registered in egernsund. From 1950 she was owned by a. P. H. Due of svendborg and registered in rudkøbing. She capsized and sank in 1959. The wreck was salvaged, but not repaired and eventually demolished in 1969. Source: http://www. Jmarcussen.
