Prometheus Bound (Hansen), Constantin Hansen, circa 1850

The vestibule of the historic main building of the university of copenhagen (1844-53) features a prometheus cycle by constantin hansen. This fresco, located beneath the fresco athena followed by nike disputing with poseidon for possession of attica, depicts prometheus being bound. The frames and other wall decorations are by georg hilker (1807-1875). Date: circa 1850.
