This image is derived from two of peter lely’s most celebrated court paintings, louise de kéroualle as a shepherdess and mary of modena, duchess of york. Mrs. Walkey, though represented in the guise of a shepherdess, like louise de kéroualle, here caresses a dog rather than a sheep. Date: 1675 to 1680.
