Gjøngehøvdingen 118, Poul Steffensen

Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during and after the dano-swedish war in 1657-58. Wentzel, a german soldier in the service of the swedish army, elsebeth buchwald of høfdingsgaard, ib abelsøn, svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, and karen kaas. Wentzel takes the horse of elsebeth buchwald to bring it inside the threes and rob her expensive clothes. But he gives up when his comrades comes from behind. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) was real a person but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him.
