V. V. Vereshchagin old beggar woman, 96 years old early 1890s oil on canvas. 29. 5 x 23 bottom left: posted in 1905 at a posthumous exhibition of v. V. Vereshchagin’s works, st. Petersburg ж-4182 the portrait is part of a series of paintings created by vereshchagin during his travels around russia in 1887–1888. The artist visited yaroslavl, rostov, and kostroma. In his book illustrated autobiographies of several unremarkable russian people (1895), vereshchagin also included a portrait of an old woman he met during his travels. Object Type: painting.
