Mathias Juhlin, 1 January 1799

Portrait of mill patron mathias juhlin (1750-1814). Around 1776, he became a bookkeeper at annefors ironworks in västergötland and later mill inspector there. In 1781 he bought stora stallerhult in västergörland, which he exchanged in 1794 for the ironworks stenfors and örmo in småland. Signed c. F v breda and dated pinx: 1799. Canvas 77 x 64 cm. Contemporary gilt frame. Provenance formerly in colonel juhlin-dannfelt's collection, stockholm. Bukowski auktioner ab, auction 482, november 28, 1991, cat. No. 5. Literature emil hultmark, "carl fredrik von breda", 1915, cat no. 96, page 140. Date: 1 January 1799.
