Anonymous engraving reproducing the painting by alexandrine delaval entitled "alexis", inspired by gessner's idylls, presented at the paris salon of 1822 (no. 323) and at the lille salon of 1822 (no. 168). The engraving was published in "la guirlande des dames", a french almanac by albéric deville (9th grade, 1823), with the following commentary: "alexis has just celebrated the beauty of daphné, whom he loves without telling her; he realizes that his secret has been discovered, daphné and chloé, his companion, were listening to his songs.
