Ivan makarov. Portrait of an unknown girl (countess o. A. Stroganova?). Early 1860s. Oil on canvas. State historical museum. Iconographic assumption by t. G. Dmitrieva, state museum of fine arts. The portrait came to the museum from the collection of the heirs of general alexei grigorievich shcherbatov (1776-1848). Analysis of the data of the mixed ascending genealogy of the last owner of the shcherbatov estate vasilyevskoye in the odintsovo district, prince alexander grigorievich shcherbatov (1850-1915), allows us to assume that the portrait depicts his future wife olga alexandrovna stroganova (1857-1944), the youngest daughter of a. G. Stroganov from his marriage to g. D. Vasilchikova. After 1918, she left russia and died in exile in france. The state russian museum collection contains a portrait by makarov, which came from the stroganov palace, traditionally called "girl with a dog", although it depicts a boy. It can be said that this is sergei alexandrovich stroganov (1852-1923), olga's brother. The portraits were probably paired, as they are the same size. Object Type: painting. Date: Early 1860s.
