Frederik anthon adam von der maase (1773-1821) was a danish cavalry officer. From 1801 he embarked on a career connected to the danish court, starting as adjutant to crown prince frederik. In 1796 he married vilhelmine løvenskiold (1779-1829). Jens juel portrayed them both, and the works were sold together at the auction.
