Table clock. This gilded bronze case is richly decorated. The back, schematically rectangular, has symmetrical right and left motifs. The ornaments are exactly the same as those on the front. At the bottom, a central mask allows two half-reclining winged putti to lean on. Naked, they have each simply girded with a cloth. In their other hand they hold a long parchment that describes curves. On each side of the dial is a standing woman dressed in antique style and wearing a crown of flowers. From her outer shoulder comes the drapery of the dress that forms the outer edge of the clock. Her hand supports a palm. On the other side, her shoulder carries a garland that surrounds the dial and joins the other towards the sky in the center. Each outstretched hand designates at the top a central mask identical to the one at the bottom. In place of the dial, part of the mechanism and the bell appear undressed. Date: circa 1838. Place of creation: Paris. Dimensions: height: 101 cm (39.7 in); width: 76 cm (29.9 in)deep 53 cm. Medium: bronze.
