historical commentary:
although not the work of an eyewitness account. The events in french history (from the revolution of 1789 to 1859) drawn by raffet are recognized for their both pictorial and historical quality. Vignettes, plates, comments from the album of the "museum of the revolution", could be inserted in any book, of the type of book on history which, during the romantic era saw numerous reissues. Cf.
