Erling eckersberg has copied the older shepherd on a sketchbook sheet (kks) and labeled the sheet "cadamour december 1828" (cf. Eckersberg's diaries, 2008, p. 84 note 2). Cadamour was a well-known model who was frequently used in j. L. David's studio, and eckersberg used him several times in the period 14 june 1812 - 17 april 1813 (cf. Diaries, p. 66-80).
