altar set consisting of an incense burner and 2 candlesticks
iconographic description:
this altar set consists of an incense burner and a pair of brass candlesticks. The perfume burner is made up of a base, the body and the removable, perforated lid. Each candlestick is in four parts that screw together: the foot, the lower tubular part, the central disc and the upper tubular part. The two candlesticks have a classic shape for this type of object and their sobriety contrasts with the work of the incense burner whose very detailed ornamentation seems to freeze the object in the middle of its transformation into bamboo. The feet, the handles and the button of the lid have the appearance of twisted bamboo trunks while the body and the openwork of the lid and the base take up the motif of bamboo leaves.
