Roberts served at ypres from late 1916 to 1917. He became batman to lieutenant duthey but owing to a disastrous cooking experience he was soon relieved of his duties. Image: a group of british soldiers caught in an explosion as they make their way along a duckboard. The boards writhe from the force of the explosion throwing the men to the sides and onto the ground. The remains of two trees are on other side of the track. Date: 1918 (First World War).
