The Great Buddha Sweet Shop, 1787

A japanese confectionery store as shown in "the great buddha sweetshop" from akizato ritō's miyako meisho zue (都 名所 圖會; an illustrated guide to the capital), illustrated by shunchosai takehara nobushige. The store benefited from being situated near the great buddha erected by toyotomi hideyoshi, one of kyoto's most popular tourist attractions. Date: 1787.
