Edward-Burne-Jones-Wake-Dearest, Edward Burne-Jones, 1905

"wake dearest" a reproduction of a watercolor by edward burne-jones (d. 1898) published posthumously (1905) by his wife in "the book of flowers" one of 38 images in the book. The images were faithfully reproduced by french printer henri piazza as collotypes with hand-stenciled watercolor additions in a technique called pochoir. The portrayals are often mistaken for original watercolors. 300 copies of the flower book were published, most as bound books, though a small number were produced as individually matted plates housed in a clamshell box. This is from the unbound "book" in the delaware art museum. Date: 1905.
