Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1657-58. A fisherman, svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen, and ib abelsøn walks over the ice in køge bugt during the night to avoid the swedish troops. They are heading for copenhagen with money hidden i the dead red deer on the sleigh. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) was real a person but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there is no known portraits of him. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
