The shahnameh or ‘book of kings’ in ink, opaque watercolor and gold on paper, depicts faridun in the guise of a dragon testing his sons. This is an illumination from the shah tahmasp shahnameh that was completed at the royal safavid atelier circa 1525-1535. Object Type: manuscript illumination, folio.
