persil in a magistrate's robe, standing in the foreground, offers the head of armand carrel wrapped in the newspaper le national, to a pear, representing louis-philippe, placed on a chair in front of him. On the fireplace decorated with two fleurs-de-lys, a clock decorated with a guillotine (guizotine), a jar containing a small character wearing the phrygian cap decorated with the tricolor cockade and armed with an ax, a vase containing saws (evoking censorship) and two human bones, another vase containing some rolled manuscripts. On a table, as a paperweight above the file of the newspaper la tribune and next to that of the national trial, the miniature head of d'argout. Pl. Published on the occasion of the trial of the national, the main press organ opposed to the government, directed by armand carrel. According to preiss, based on the article in “derv. » (desnoyers), "from the six stories of crime", appearing at the beginning of this issue, it plays on the words spoken by persil during the trial, which summarized the charges as follows: "i will resume, gentlemen of the jury, starting with the weakest to finally arrive at the one that i will call the bouquet".
