this photograph shows a chart issued to stretcher parties regarding the use of particular labels for casualties. There are five key labels listed: t (+time) indicates the time that a tourniquet was placed on the casualty (for example t 14:30 indicates that a tourniquet was placed at 2:30pm); h indicates that the patient has suffered a haemorrhage and that a tourniquet has not been applied; c indicates that the patient has been contaminated with gas; m 1/4 (+ time) indicates that the patient has been given 1/4 grain of morphine and the time at which it was given; and x indicates that the patient is a priority for examination upon arrival at the hospital.
