Angelo mariani became immensely rich with his "medicinal wines", especially with coca wine, to which qualities were attributed for diseases of the stomach, respiratory system, insomnia and melancholia. Angelo mariani was, in addition, a lover of art and had a great sense of publicity. It occurred to him that he could promote his products by sending a sumptuous gift of bottles to highly renowned people to obtain a handwritten thank you note in response. Little by little, they formed the "mariani albums". They include kings, popes, princes, presidents, writers. . Names such as thomas a. Edison, pétain, emilie zola or ulpiano checa himself alternate. In each case there is a biographical sketch of the character and an engraving with his portrait, in addition to his signature and some lines in prose or short poems, musical scores, drawings, anaramas, all in praise of wonderful wine, which obtained a special blessing from pope leo.
