A mother and her two children giving alms in a trunk on which is written "trunk for fires". The alms of the worker, engraving after the painting entitled the alms of the worker presented by eugénie henry (future eugénie latil) at the salon of 1841 (number 975 of the booklet). Published in le journal des artistes, march 28, 1841. Here is what the newspaper critic wrote about the works of eugénie henry exhibited at the salon of 1841 (march 21, 1841, p. 186):
"we would be missing the truth if we did not point out among the most remarkable portraits of the salon, those exhibited by miss eugénie henry: that of m. De calmon, director of the recording, is one of the successful portraits which make the reputation of an artist, whatever his name; precise and correct drawing, striking resemblance, suave and harmonious colors, everything in a word contributes to placing this portrait and those of m. Saint-e. , the marquis de c. . And by m. De g. . . , among the most noted of those at the exhibition, and this is definitely right; mademoiselle henry is one of the most skilful portrait painters; she also exhibited a very pretty little genre painting, the worker's alms, of which we will have the opportunity to give an engraved feature. Date: 28 March 1841.
