The école militaire was located on the champ de mars and faced the eiffel tower. During the 1889 world fair, the palais des machines (on the left in the image) had been built; this building was to host exhibits again during the 1900 paris world fair, when this picture was taken. The platform on the left of the image is a moving walkway that had been specifically designed for the world fair, just like the railway on the right of the image. Today, only the ecole militaire (on the right of the image) still stands; the palais des machines was destroyed in 1910. Dimensions: 20.6 x 25 cm. Medium: photographic print.
