Tomita nobutaka and his wife yuki no kata successfully defend tsu (anotsu) castle during the sekigahara campaign (22 august - 5 november 1600). Original japanese woodblock print. Women were not expected to fight in battle, but during times of war the men were often away and women were expected to defend the home. More info: artist: yoshitoshi tsukioka (1839-1892).
