The blockhouse at fort duquesne
russell smith, 1832
while it is labeled fort duquesne, this "blockhouse" was built in 1764 as part of the british fort pitt. It still stands today and is all that remains above ground of the original fort. When this painting was done in 1832, the blockhouse was used as a residence and was attached to a larger brick structure. This is the earliest known image of the fort pitt blockhouse.
