Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (11/14/1944) letter no. Blank (11/18/1944) next letter (11/1944) envelope: front back card text i would also like to send you something from the bottom of my heart today, but you already know. I was able to get some apples and some sweetener. This package has already been sent and i hope you have received it already? yes, mamschl, i often think back to my childhood and how lovely it was with us, especially with you. I have various acquaintances here and was introduced to the so-called better circles and families here and in quedlinburg. These boys (including soldiers like me) and girls still have everything their hearts desire through relationships today. I have looked at all of this and observed it carefully. They have a wonderfully beautiful apartment and one of them even has his own house. When i saw all of this, i naturally made comparisons and only then did i see how much i was against everyone else because no one had such a lovely mother as me! in this case, i wouldn't want to swap places with them for anything in the world. I imagined our life together to be completely different. I wanted to at least repay you a little for all the love and kindness. You shouldn't have to work and suffer any more. Unfortunately, everything turned out completely differently. But we don't want to be sad about it, we just want to hope that everything will turn out well! Date: 18 November 1944.
