Stifters beech, Adalbert Stifter

Remains of stifter's beech near horní planá, český krumlov district, south bohemian region, czech republic. The huge european beech (fagus sylvatica), aged about 300 years, was broken by a storm in 1979 and died ultimately in 1994. This particular tree is associated with life of writer adalbert stifter who liked to sit beneath it and mentioned the beech in his work granite.
