M. ] my dear mum! yes, you will be amazed; today i am writing with ink again, for the first time since october. Yesterday i took my fountain pen apart and cleaned it. Now i urgently need ink. Dear mum, if you can get fountain pen ink at home, please send me some! it is now 0. 30 a. M. And i am on fire watch again until 2 a. M. I wrote you a letter yesterday too. I will write every day if possible so that you can rest assured. There is nothing new from me; i am still well and healthy. The russian is [still calm. ]. Date: 24 February 1943.
