Airmail stamp of the republic of burundi (first republic); 1968; commemorative stamp of the issue to "christmas 1968"; the dipicted stamp is bdi michel: no. 464a from 1968 and shows as stamp motive a the painting "the holy family with santa anna" by el greco (1541-1614) ("el greco" means literally "the greek" because he was born on crete (greece)) from the "szépmuveszeti muzeum" (= "museum of fine arts") in budapest (hungary).;el greco was a scholar of titian.;it’s giving several paintings by el greco to the topic "holy family", but only one is showing the "saint anne" (= mother of mary = "santa anna") on the left side and the "saint john" (spanish original name: "san juan bautista"; german: "johannes der täufer") on the right side.;this painting was created (probably) 1595 in the spanish town toledo (not in usa) in the style of the spanish mannerism.;since 1600 is this painting in budapest.;unfortunately this stamp was postmarked with an unreadable cto.
