Helene roed (1843-1926) was the daughter of marstrand's colleague jørgen roed. In 1866 she married the swedish professor c. R. Nyblom, and moved to sweden as helene nyblom. The portrait is a study for marstrand's scene from det lykkelige skibbrud (the happy capsize) (1857-59). Helene roed had her hair done to portray the young woman leonora. Object Type: painting.
