2 women and a man with animal heads are in a room. To the right of the stage, a woman is lying in a bed at the foot of which is an empty bassinet. The newborn, with the head of a bird, is in the center of the scene, in the arms of a man with the head of a deer whose large horns suggest that he is not the natural father of the child. The hungry baby bird opens its beak towards the goat-headed nurse who is opposite the deer. The goat joins its hands in a sign of emotion. Extract from métamorphoses du jour (editions gustave havard libraire, paris, 1854): "happy ten-corner! [. . . ] for a long time he was only a husband, for a long time his happiness was poisoned by the unfulfilled desire to be a father, and now he is! [. . . ] the arrival of this good cauchois goat who comes to lavish the baby with the nourishing juices with which the normandy grasslands filled its udders [. . . ] the nasty tongues of the neighborhood were exercised on this scene of interior happiness.
