My beloved mum! thank you again from the bottom of my heart for your letter of october 29th. I wait even longer now than before for mail from you. I am often thinking of you, wondering whether you are still healthy and whether everything is at least more or less ok. You have received all of my mail and i am glad about that because it is a small consolation for you to know that i am well and that i am safe so far. Thank you very much for the congratulations on my driver’s license. Yes, everything went well and i have not been in a trench yet. It was certainly a lovely time for me. Well, when it's all over again, i can drive you for a ride myself. If only it were only that time. Today i heard in the wehrmacht report that our vienna was attacked again, hopefully everything went well! please write me a few lines after each attack so that i know what's going on! we've had an alarm twice today, too, they [flew over in large numbers again. ]. Date: 2 November 1944.
