in his workshop, a sculptor receives three visitors, two women and a man. One of the women is ecstatic in front of a large marble statue of venus and cupid standing on a pedestal to the right. On the base are placed a mallet and a chisel, against it a compass, and on the ground clasps and a brush. The sculptor, who holds a chisel in his right hand, presents with his left the reduced model which served as a guide for creating his marble statue. On the left, on a harness, can be seen a man's head; on a table behind, several wax models, and wax on paper, and a roughing board; behind, on a small table, two wax models, one of which, during work, is covered with a damp cloth. On shelves at the back of the workshop, as well as on the floor, various productions by the sculptor, including, on the left, a statue of force, and on the right a group with a river god; between the two, a carved cartouche with the arms of cardinal richelieu.
