Work by nicolau nasoni, commissioned by the board of the order of saint francis, the construction of the casa do despacho was frankly rapid, taking place in just three years (1747-1749), although some indicators point to a later completion, as early as 1752. The project carried out at that time included the collaboration of notable names in porto's baroque art, not only with nasoni's help, but with that of josé martins tinoco, responsible for painting the ceiling of the sala do despacho, dating from and that of josé teixeira guimarães, who created the altarpiece. The cemetery, which accompanied the construction of the property, was the last part to be completed, under the responsibility of bricklayer antônio da silva carvalho. Casa do despacho follows a two-story building typology, with a rectangular plan, with the main rooms occupying the second floor. Particularly striking is the sessions room, with a painted ceiling and altarpiece and other separate paintings displayed on the walls. The ceiling, octagonal in plan, is formed by coffers and includes carved inlays.
