In 1890, paul durrieu, assistant curator at the louvre museum, attempted to identify the characters depicted in the following manner: the four characters in the background behind the king are, on the left, the chancellor of the order, guy bernard, bishop of langres, in an old pink cap and camail, the clerk jean robertet who holds the book of the order in his hands, and on the right the herald, jean montjoie, nicknamed mont-saint-michel and the treasurer jean bourré. In the foreground on the right is louis de bourbon-roussillon then jean ii de bourbon, louis de luxembourg-saint-pol and louis de laval. On the left, in the foreground, charles de france, the king's younger brother, and behind him with the baton of command antoine de chabannes. Object Type: painting. Date: circa 1469-1470.
