Eugène andré garcin, son of a farrier, was born on 31 december 1830 in alleins in the department of bouches-du-rhône. He is a provençal writer, journalist, publicist and poet. He participates very actively in the félibrige movement. Eugène garcin, then supervisor-teacher in an institution and boarding house for young girls in paris, married the director of this establishment, euphémie vauthier, on 11 may 1861, in the 9th arrondissement of paris. He was a member of the society of people of letters of france at the same time as his wife in 1868. Former sub-prefect at muret in the department of haute-garonne in 1870-1871 and professor of history at the lavoisier school in paris, eugène garcin died on 11 february 1909 in antony in what is now the hauts-de-seine department.
