“the charge of treviño” or “battle of treviño”, also known as “defense of colonel contreras”, took place during the third carlist war, specifically on july 7, 1875, between the king's lancers regiment, which only had 98 horses and lancers left, attacking the third battalion of navarra of the carlists, to liberate the city of vitoria. It is a colossal canvas measuring 4. 5 by 7 meters, 32 square meters of canvas.
