Published in the dutch edition of antonine prevost d'exile's histoire generale des voyages, this uncolored map of batavia was engraved by jacob van schley. In 1628 and 1629, the sultan of the materam attempted to lay seige to the settlement of batavia, failing both times. This map mark the event, although the seige is not depicted.
