With his right hand raised, thumb and index finger touching (vitarka mudrā), he carries in his left hand a lotus bud, a buddhist symbol of purity as well as spiritual perfection. At the top of his crown is placed a small image (kebutsu) of amida buddha, which evokes one of the transformations undertaken by the bodhisattva in order to save beings.
