Signature detail. Composition, 1939, oil on canvas by fédor löwenstein (1901-1946). A red cross on the painting (seized in december 1942) indicates that it was to be destroyed. In july 1943, composition escaped the auto-da-fé. Work registered (wrongly) in 1973 on the inventory of national collections, then removed, re-registered in 2011 on the special provisional inventory of recovered works, deposited at the centre pompidou.
