Emperor taizong of the tang dynasty received the tibetan envoy ludongzan sent by songtsen gampo in the palace. Li shimin is sitting on a couch (also called a chariot, from which this picture is named) carried by six palace ladies. There are three other palace ladies fanning the front and rear and holding a canopy. There are three people standing in front of emperor taizong of the tang dynasty: the one on the far right, wearing a big red robe, is the introduction official for this ceremony; in the middle is the tubo envoy lu dongzan, standing with his hands folded, his hairstyle and clothing are different from those in the central plains; and on the far left is an internal official wearing a white robe.
