iconographic description:
the scene takes place during a popular ball in a village hall. On the right on a platform several musicians play the tuba, the violin, the trumpet, they are represented with animal heads: monkey, pig. In the room, the dancers are bourgeois women wearing extravagant hats. The dancers are either dressed in costumes or military uniforms. Some are thrown into a sort of peasant dance, others watch the dances on the sides of the dance floor. They all have animal heads: dogs of various species, exotic birds.
